“My 600-Lb Life” participant Ashley R is married, but it is not the life she envisioned. Even though she has dreams of starting her own family, the TLC subject is forced to live with her mother and father.

Ashley, whose last name wasn’t revealed by TLC, expressed concern for her heath in a teaser for Episode 2 of Season 5. “ I want to live to grow old with my husband,” she says. “More than anything I feel like I’m running out of time.”

The promo is short, but TLC gives further background on Ashley. “At 670 pounds Ashley must live in her parents' home with her husband,” TLC describes Wednesday’s episode on their website. “Desperate to save her life and her marriage, she decides it's time for a drastic change. Can weight loss surgery save her life and give her the chance to have a family of her own?”

“My 600-Lb Life” documents the weight-loss journey of people who are near or more than 600 pounds. In many cases, they are in poor health and need the surgery, performed by renowned Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan, M.D., F.A.C.S., to live a more fulfilling life. In extreme instances, the procedure is needed to save their lives. The series often shows participants as they struggle with daily routines like overeating, going to the grocery store and showering.

The new season of “My 600-Lb Life” featured its first set of twins, Brandi and Kandi. Both sisters, who were featured on the season premiere, struggled with their weight, indulging in soda and pizza. Ultimately, the half-ton sisters underwent gastric bypass and lost hundreds of pounds.

To see if Ashley’s weight-loss journey is just as successful, check out Season 5 of “My 600-lb Life” when it airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
