Two years ago she was the bright-eyed British teenager who had never even seen a Bollywood movie.

But now, 21-year-old former Miss Teen World Amy Jackson is the latest British export to set the world of Bollywood on fire.

The meteoric rise of the girl from Liverpool has seen her land smash-hit film roles and fill gossip pages with speculation about her love life and potential matrimony with Indian star Prateik Babbar.

Speaking recently to the Coventry Telegraph about her role in the film Madrasapattinam, the former Miss England described how her ordinary life took a very unexpected turn.

I was new to acting before my role in Madrasapattinam, she said.

Although I was familiar with Bollywood since there are many people in Britain who watch Hindi movies, I hadn't watched any of these films before I came to Chennai.

After her success, Amy's university friends back in England found it hard to understand how she had become such a huge Bollywood sensation.

She added, Some of them think I am crazy. For me, this has been a dream come true.

Amy was discovered in 2010 by an Indian director who offered her a part in a film set in the 1940s British Raj.

But for the starlet, whose face draws crowds in India, the contrast between her life in Chennai and her life back in the UK couldn't be more different.

At home I'm just Amy, but in India I get mobbed, she said in an interview with The Sun.
