‘The Fault in Our Stars’ makes its U.S. premiere today, but before the world is introduced to the charm and talent of Ansel Elgort on the big screen, here are six fast facts to know about the up-and-coming, 20-year-old, film star:

He’s already a movie star

Playing Augustus “Gus” Waters is just one of the many sizable roles Elgort has landed in recent years. Prior to filming “TFIOS,” Elgort starred as the Tommy Ross to Chloe Moretz Grace’s Carrie in the 2013 remake of “Carrie,” before going on to play his "Fault" co-star, actress Shailene Woodley's brother in the sci-fi blockbuster “Divergent.” As if prepping to film the top-grossing film’s sequel, “Insurgent,” Elgort’s film, “Men, Women & Children” co-starring Adam Sandler, is also scheduled for a 2014 debut.

He’s a native New Yorker...

...And he isn’t afraid to admit that he still poses next to his film’s posters in New York subway stations. “I will do that forever,” Elgort told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday. “I recall all the times I took the subway to school every day for years. I remember seeing movie posters in the subway and being like, ‘I hope a movie I’m in is going to be advertised,’ and now it is and it’s so crazy.”

He’s best buddies with John Green

Filming "TFIOS" apparently made Elgort and the story’s creator, YouTuber and author John Green, fast friends. Since being cast in the film, Elgort has appeared in multiple of Green’s VlogBrothers videos on YouTube, the duo even sparking the celebrity couple name “Johnsel." “My wife, whose here on set, was like, ‘On Twitter you’re acting like you have a crush on Ansel.’ “And I was like, ‘Acting?’” Green jokingly said of his relationship with Elgort during a Q&A video with the actor in October.

He’s a family man

Elgort didn’t take a romantic date to the "TFIOS" premiere in New York Monday, he took his dad, photographer and director, Arthur Elgort. “W/ my favorite man, my pops,” Elgort posted to Instagram Wednesday alongside an image of the father-son duo at the press event. “So glad he could share this experience with me.”

He can break it down

While admittedly not the best ballet dancer, Elgort is terrifically talented when it comes to tap. “I can tap dance a little bit,” Elgort recently admitted on "The Tonight Show," even showing off a few of his skills. The actor was also seen breaking dancing on stage at a recent fan event, a video which has since gone viral. “I learned it in a cafeteria at school,” Elgort said of his hip-hop skills on “The Today Show” Monday. “As an actor, it’s more fun to make [dancing] entertaining and funny,” he said.

He can carry a tune

In true triple threat fashion, Elgort is also musically inclined. And as if his acting schedule was packed enough, the rising star is also reportedly a skilled DJ. “Working on a vocal track with one of the best voices around right now. You guys are gonna freak,” Elgort last updated on his music’s Twitter account Ansolo on May 26.
