Caylee Marie Anthony (August 9, 2005 - c.June 16, 2008) was an American toddler who disappeared in June 2008 and was later found dead five months later which brought national attention.

Her mother, Casey Anthony, who was 19 years old when she became pregnant with Caylee and 22 when Caylee died. She was indicted on October 14, 2008, and was in jail when jury selection for her trial started on May 9, 2011.

Casey and her family claims she did not harm her child and that she is not guilty of all charges.

The trial began on Monday, May 24. The defense has alleged that Caylee was actually never missing; she drowned in the family pool on June 16, 2008.

Caylee's death was allegedly first discovered by grandfather George Anthony, who then informed mother Casey Anthony.

He allegedly said to her on that day: Look what you've done. Your mother will never forgive you. You'll go to jail for the rest of your life.

He then allegedly helped with the disposal of Caylee's body. The defense suggested that he also planted evidence against his daughter Casey and steered the blame towards her.

George Anthony, who testified at the trial, flatly denied all the accusations.

He said the defense's account was the first time he ever heard the allegation that Caylee drowned in the family pool. He said he's never seen Caylee's body. He also denied molesting his daughter Casey.
