While Pippa Middleton is widely known throughout the world as the sister of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, James Matthews is her lesser-known husband-to-be. Matthews is a former race car driver and millionaire businessman, slated to marry Middleton’s younger sister Saturday at St. Mark's Church in Englefield, Berkshire.

Matthews, 41, is the heir to the Scottish title of Laird of Glen Affric, the Sun reported Thursday.

While his brother, Spencer, dabbled in reality television since 2011, Matthews made a name for himself in the world of finance. He’s a hedge fund manager and the chief executive at Eden Rock Capital Management Group, the Mirror reported.

As far as past times are concerned, Matthews likes to hit the slopes. Skiing is an activity that he and Pippa enjoy doing together. The couple competed in the Birkebeiner ski race in Norway, the Mirror noted. It took them six hours to finish the course.

When Pippa and Matthews were engaged in July after they briefly dated in 2012. He got down on one knee and proposed with a contemporary art deco ring.

“It was likely to have been made bespoke especially for her from Bond Street,” High-end jeweler Neil Geddes told the Daily Mail at the time. “It sits fairly high on her finger allowing as much light to enter the diamond as possible and reflect back giving stunning brilliance and fire.”

He reportedly popped the question during a trip to the Lake District in England.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news,” Kensington Palace said in a statement about the engagement at the time. “Middleton’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton are also thrilled by the engagement news saying in a joint statement that Matthews and their daughter make a “wonderful couple.” Carole and Michael added: “We wish them every happiness together.”

Aside from what dress Pippa was to wear and whether sister Kate Middleton would serve as her maid of honor, one thing people were concerned about was if “Suits” actress Meghan Markle would be in attendance. Even though she is dating Prince Harry, some commented Markle would not be invited since Pippa has a “no ring, no bring” rule, which means guests cannot bring a partner to an event if they are not engaged or married. In Markle’s case, Pippa reportedly invited her so it wouldn’t cause conflict within the royal family.

One thing was certain, Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 2, were to be involved. Prince George was to serve as page boy and Princess Charlotte as flower girl.

Markle’s presence at the wedding was highly anticipated since it was one of the few times she and Prince Harry were to be pictured together. She reportedly asked to stop filming “Suits” for a week so she could attend Pippa’s wedding to Matthews.
