Janine Detore, the sister of “Mob Wives” star Angela ‘Big Ang’ Raiola, is caring for her sister during her battle with cancer. Rumors spread Wednesday that Raiola had died at age 55 after an erroneous report from "Entertainment Tonight" went viral.

A tweet appeared on her official page that slammed the rumor. The reports of her death were called “totally inaccurate.” The statement continued: “Please respect her family and their privacy at this time. ... No direct information has been given, and will not be given anytime soon. Angela is still in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones, and is fighting. Thank you.” The post was liked and shared thousands of times.

Detore recently went with Raiola to “The Dr. Oz Show,” where the reality star opened up about her sickness. And it was Detore who started a GoFundMe page for Raiola.

The star, whose cancer spread to her brain and right lung, was no longer responding to chemotherapy. To try and beat the cancer, the family sought an alternative -- yet expensive -- treatment: immunotherapy. The idea is that the body use its own immune system to fight the disease, instead of chemicals. Even though Detore asked for only $25,000 from Raiola’s fans, she raised nearly $50,000.

“Many of you know her as ‘Big Ang’ of ‘Mob Wives,’ but we know her as Angela our sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin or just a friend,” she wrote. Detore added the money would also go toward cannabis oil to treat her sister’s pain. “This is why I am putting up this go fund me to try to help my sister to get this oil to help her at least be pain free,” she wrote. “Angela cannot function to work anymore. I'm not sure that it will work but I'm praying.”

In a 2012 interview, Detore talked about her sister being a great person. “She’s very motherly, she’s a good wife, a great housekeeper. She cares about every child in the neighborhood,” she told Reality Aired, according to Starcasm.
