A Boston radio host called Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews a “gutless bitch” for her interview with St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright during the 2014 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Kirk Minihane, who appears on WEEI’s “Dennis & Callahan” morning radio show, ripped Andrews for what he deemed to be a softball interview with Wainwright, who admitted earlier Tuesday night that he was “going to give [Derek Jeter] a couple of pipe shots.” The Cardinals pitcher allowed a double to Jeter in the first inning of the New York Yankee legend’s final All-Star Game appearance.
During the interview, Wainwright downplayed his comments, suggesting that fans may have misunderstood his words. Andrews insinuated that social media played a role in escalating the situation – an assertion that angered Minihane.
“What a bitch. I hate her. What a gutless bitch,” Minihane said. “Seriously, go away. Drop dead. What the hell is wrong with her? First of all, follow up. Secondly, the guy admitted he did it. He admitted it. He told reporters he threw a couple of pipe bombs. How is that social media’s fault? I hate her. I seriously hate her so much. Social media is the reason she has a big house! Shut up. Shut up. I shouldn’t call her a bitch, I’m sure she’s a nice person.”
Later, another member of the “Dennis and Callahan” crew added that Andrews “probably is a bitch,” while Gerry Callahan referred to her as a "bubblehead." Neither Andrews nor Minihane has addressed the rant.
