Lil Za may have been flying under the radar as one of Justin Bieber’s friends, but now the rapper is infamous as he was arrested on cocaine possession charges when authorities raided the pop star’s home Tuesday while investigating an egging incident. So just who is Lil Za?

Real name Xavier Dominique Smith, Lil Za is a 19-year-old rapper who has been close to Bieber for years. He once lived in Bieber’s home in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas, Calif., but was thrown out of the “Girlfriend” singer’s pad.

In September, Lil Za and his brother, Lil Twist, were both kicked out of Bieber’s place after jewelry went missing from the home. The two brothers reportedly threw parties at Bieber’s house while the singer wasn’t home, according to TMZ. While Bieber wasn’t sure who was behind the theft, he blamed the brothers.

Now Lil Za is in some legal trouble, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities raided Bieber’s home to probe the egging of Bieber’s neighbor. During the raid, authorities allegedly found cocaine “in plain view,” the gossip site reported. Authorities are not alleging that the cocaine is connected to Bieber.

Sheriff's deputies were particularly interested in any surveillance video that may have evidence of the egg attack. The incident allegedly occurred last week and reportedly caused more than $20,000 in damage.

Bieber was enraged that 11 patrol cars descended on his residence. An unnamed friend said the singer believed the police presence, which included a battering ram, was unnecessary. “It’s just over the top to send a dozen cop cars to someone’s house because of someone allegedly throwing eggs from his property at his neighbor’s house. Justin respects the judicial system, but is this really the best use of the very limited resources of the sheriff’s department?” the source told Radar Online.

The source continued that Bieber “is obviously upset that cops basically had free rein and are going through his personal belongings in his house. Justin has been kept out of the house while the search warrant is being executed and is being watched over by several sheriff’s deputies.”

Because of the amount of damage inflicted in the egging, anyone arrested in connection with the attack faces felony charges. That means jail time of at least a year if convicted.
