As the world mourns the loss of “Fast & Furious” actor Paul Walker, details about his friend and fellow victim, Roger Rodas, are just beginning to leak.

As we previously reported, Paul Walker died on Saturday, Nov. 30, in a grisly single-car accident. The person driving the car and also killed in the fiery crash was 38-year-old Roger Rodas, a good friend of Walker’s and the co-owner of California car customization store Always Evolving.

Initial reports from TMZ stated that Walker was in Santa Clarita, Calif., for an event held at Rodas' store for Walker's charity organization, Reach Out Worldwide, which works to send first responders to the scenes of natural disasters. Upon leaving the event, the Porsche Walker was a passenger in lost control and crashed, resulting in the vehicle bursting into flames. Now witnesses are shedding a little more light on the fatal car accident that claimed the lives of Walker and Rodas.

Walker and Rodas became friends over their shared interest in cars. Racing together in events like the 25 hours of Thunderhill and the Pirelli World Challenge Series, the pair teamed up throughout the years to support Reach Out Worldwide. Sources are stating that after Saturday’s event, Walker and Rodas decided to take a “joyride” in a red Porsche that Always Evolving posted a photo of on its Facebook page earlier that day.

Like Walker, who has a 15-year-old daughter, Roger Rodas was also a father. According to the U.K.’s Mirror, Rodas’ 8-year-old son was at the scene of the accident and “bravely tried to save his dad as flames engulfed the car.”

“I ran over afterwards; I was trying to find Roger’s son,” Jim Torp, a witness to the accident, told the N.Y. Daily News. “I found out his son had jumped the fence and gone over. He was trying to get his dad out.”

"Paul Walker’s best friend was trying to get Paul out of the car while it was still on fire,” Torp continued. “He was trying to save his friend ... there was nothing he could do."

Always Evolving posted the following message on its Facebook page regarding the horrific accident: “Thank you all for your condolences and prayers while we mourn the loss of our loved ones.”
