Police have found the body of 27-year-old jogger Vanessa Marcotte, who was reported missing in Princeton, Massachusetts. The young woman, who went for a jog on Sunday afternoon, never returned and was found that same night. Although few details have been released, cops believe she was killed and have launched a homicide investigation.

Marcotte was living in New York City and working as a Google account manager, according to CBS Boston. Originally from Leominister, she was visiting her mother in Princeton and last seen on Brooks Station Road during the afternoon. Once a missing persons search was launched, her body was found by a K9 police dog in a wooded area about a half-mile away from her mother’s home.

So far, the investigation has revealed that Vanessa Marcotte was killed between 1pm and 4pm on Sunday. During a press conference, Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. explained that police are still unsure whether or not the jogger was targeted but urged the community to stay alert. He told the media, "We don't know if this was a random act."

Early continued, "We are asking residents of Princeton and surrounding areas to use an abundance of caution."

The District Attorney went on to admit that police have found a horrible set of facts concerning her death and “horrible circumstance.”

According to her LinkedIn page, Vanessa Marcotte attended Boston University College of Communication and cares about economic empowerment, education, health, science and technology. In January 2015, she joined Google and worked as a Healthcare Account Manager until her death.

Although she was not very active on Twitter, many of her tweets were devoted to posts about her job at Google and her previous work at Vistaprint.

Anyone with information about the death of Vanessa Marcotte is urged to call Massachusetts State Police.
