Mexican authorities are investigating the death of a 22-year-old American in Cancun.

According to WKMG, the body of Craig Taylor was found on a dirt road in Punta Sam on March 2. The area is north of downtown Cancun. Taylor had gone out the night before with his brother and two friends, officials said.

The group arrived in Cancun on Feb. 28.

Union Cancun reports that the group went to a local gay bar called 11:11. Witnesses have told Mexican newspapers that they saw the group get into an argument with employees at the bar regarding their bill for drinks. The bar’s owner and five employees have since been brought in for questioning.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City confirmed the identity of the body. According to Union Cancun, Taylor's body has been released to his brother, who remains unidentified.
