Football season might have just started, but NFL fans know one thing for sure: Bruno Mars will play at halftime. Announcers on Sunday revealed during football games that the 27-year-old Hawaiian would take the stage during one of the most-watched television events of any year. Until Sunday, it was only rumored that the star was going to sing at the event.

The “Treasure” singer took to Twitter to share his excitement with his followers after the announcement:

Pepsi also chimed in: “Excited to have you in #PepsiSBHalftime Mr. @BrunoMars. We KNOW you're #FanEnough! The countdown to Feb 2 is on. http://www.nfl.com/pepsisbhalftime “

There is probably no need to worry about a wardrobe malfunction with the likes of Mars. The singer is known for his smooth hits such as “When I Was Your Man” from “Unorthodox Jukebox” and the “Marry You” from “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” just to name a few.

His performance at the MTV Video Music Awards was overlooked after Miley Cyrus tried to grab the attention of everyone during her “Blurred Lines” act, but it seems the Super Bowl will be Mars’ ultimate opportunity to shine.

He will now be in the same group as Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Tom Petty, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Paul McCartney, U2, and the unforgettable Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

Super Bowl XLVIII be shown live on Fox next Feb. 2 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Many of his Twitter fans took to the social-media site to congratulate the singer and share their excitement over the news. Check out some of their tweets below:
