A shooting at Penn State University’s Beaver Campus left two people dead Wednesday, police confirmed. Authorities identified the shooter as 52-year-old William Kelly.

State Police Lt. Eric Hermick said Kelly was having child custody issues with his former wife Lesli Kelly, 49, WPXI reported. Hermick added Kelly lured Lesli, who was a food services worker at Penn State, out under the guise of delivering Christmas gifts for their children. He then shot her using a .45-caliber handgun, before killing himself.

Authorities said the couple had three children, who were safe with relatives, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

The shooting reportedly took place in the Student Union Building at Penn State Beaver, a campus in Center Township. Initial reports from the scene said there were up to 15 shots fired, KDKA-TV reported. An alert was quickly issued throughout Penn State and the campus was put on lockdown.

The scene was declared not active shortly after the shooting occurred.
