The U.S. Department of Labor said today in Washington that the producer price index fell to a flat estimate in March, after rising 0.4 percent a month ago, missing analysts' median estimates of 0.3 percent. Core PPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose to 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent.

PPI fell 2.8 percent from 3.3 percent in the year ended March, while Core PPI eased to 3.0 percent from 3.0 percent in the at the same period.
