“Bachelor” fans are still in shock after Season 19 stars Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff announced that they have ended their engagement. While the pair are not the first couple from the ABC reality show franchise to break up, their split comes only a few days after fellow alum Cody Sattler revealed that the two were cuddling next to him on the couch.

So what went wrong? Sources say “nothing dramatic happened.”

In a joint statement released to Us Weekly on Thursday, the couple explained that the split was amicable. And according to an insider close to Soules and Bischoff, there was "no real drama."

“They just realized that they weren’t meant to be together forever,” the source told the site. Meanwhile another source dished that, “They just didn’t get a chance to know each other well and their lives are in different places.”

Anyone who has followed the pair from the start of “The Bachelor” Season 19 know that 33-year-old Soules is a farmer from Iowa. In the finale he chose to be with 29-year-old Bischoff, a fertility nurse from Chicago. However, during the “After the Final Rose” special in March, they confirmed that they had yet to move in together -- despite being engaged for a couple of months. The initial plan was for the couple to get to know each other better before Bischoff moved to Soules’ farm. But Soules wasn’t even spending all his time in Iowa. “The Bachelor” star, nicknamed Prince Farming, was cast on Dancing With the Stars Season 20.

Bischoff cheered Soules on from the audience, but there were rumors of a breakup in early May when she missed a couple of performances. The DWTS cast member assured Fox411 at the time that the two were going strong.

“She’s got a life, too. She’s got a job and she’s got a career and she’s doing that,” Soules told the reporters. “She’s gotta do what makes her happy, and I’m focused on [DWTS] and having a great time, and she’s happy for me. We’re making the best of a really cool situation that we’re both a part of that’s not going to last much longer.”

Chris Soules last posted a photo with Bischoff and his parents on May 20. He wrote in the Instagram caption that he was “the world’s luckiest guy.” Meanwhile, his ex-fiancé posted a photo of their engagement as a “throwback Thursday” picture at the beginning of May. “Can’t believe this was almost six months ago … seems just like yesterday!” she wrote.
