Now Clive Mantle knows how boxer Evander Holyfield feels -- the "Game of Thrones" actor had part of his ear bitten off during a fight at a British hotel this weekend.

The 55-year-old HBO actor was staying at the Newcastle Travelodge in the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in northern England, according to the BBC, when another hotel guest bit off part of his ear early Sunday morning after making a noise complaint.

"The Ladykillers" star reportedly left his room to try to quiet down some loud guests, the Mirror reported, but when he had to ask them to be quiet a second time trouble ensued.

“That’s when they set about him, and even though he is a big guy they got him on the ground," his agent, Bryn Newton, told the Mirror. "One of them bit the top part of his right ear off. It was savage. Fortunately, someone heard the commotion down the corridor and came out to help him and called hotel management."

Surgeons at the Royal Victoria Infirmary were able to sew Mantle's bitten ear back together.

"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened. You don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," a spokesperson for Mantle told the BBC. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr. Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."

According to the Mirror, doctors are not sure if the surgery was a success yet. He has to see a specialist in Oxford on Tuesday. "You don’t expect that sort of thing to happen in that situation," Newton added. “Clive said both men outside his room been drinking heavily, but he could lose his ear, and as an actor, that would mean he cannot make a living."

Mantle has had to suspend his role in "Ladykillers" because of the fight. Jon Bath, who is a part of the production on the show, told The Stage that the assault was “horrifying and disgusting and has shaken everyone up."

An unnamed 32-year-old man from South Lanarkshire, Scotland, was charged with wounding with intent.
