Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been spotted holding hands in public ever since reports swirled that they are dating.

But according to the Daily Mail, this public display of affection between the couple is very different from how Prince William and Kate Middleton were when they were still boyfriend and girlfriend and even after they tied the knot.

Body language expert Robin Kermode claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton “do not feel the need to prove their love” to the public. “Some public figures use hand-holding as a deliberate act to prove that their relationship is solid, but this isn’t something Prince William and Kate struggle with,” he saisd.

Kermode added that the married couple may have also been taking after Queen Elizabeth. “The Queen rarely holds hands with her husband in public and this seems to have set an unwritten precedent for the other royals. It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love – particularly when on official state business. They come across as a strong, independent couple and while they are always on show, they do not feel the need to show their love for each other to the world,” he explained.

But it might also be necessary to note that unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle live on two different continents. The “Suits” actress is from Los Angeles, and she has spent most of her time in Canada where the hit series is being shot. Prince Harry, on the other hand, is from London. This may be a reason why they seem to be more affectionate with each other in public.

Meanwhile, the couple made their first public appearance at the Invictus Games in Toronto last month. Photos of the 36-year-old actress and the 33-year-old prince showed them sitting on the bleachers side by side. They were photographed laughing and having a wonderful time.

But while speaking with Vanity Fair, Markle confirmed that she and Prince Harry have been dating for a couple of months even before reports swirled that they were.
