Seattle-based online store Amazon.com launched its app store this year angering Apple, which took Amazon to court for stealing the term App store. Apple wanted to stop the company from using the term.

Previously, Apple had to take a lot of flak from other organizations for trying to stop others from using the term app store which they claimed to be more basic. Apple has obtained various trademarks in the US for the term.

However, US district judge Phyllis Hamilton, who is presiding over the case, said she will most possibly deny Apple’s claim as the company has fallen short of revealing any real reason as to why they don’t want a basic term such as app store to be used by other organizations.

Microsoft is reportedly the latest company to start its software store for Windows 8 and call it “app store”, Geeky Gadgets reported.
