On Tuesday a rumor began to circulate that CNN was looking to replace evening host Piers Morgan. According to sources who spoke to FTVLive, CNN President Jeff Zucker is "actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan."

Neither CNN or Morgan, 48, has addressed the rumor publicly, but it didn’t stop Twitter from talking about Morgan’s potential departure. It also isn’t clear if CNN wants to get rid of him completely or just his prime-time slot, but the channel insinuated that Morgan might get moved to late night hours.

According to a report from The New York Post, Zucker originally wanted to move the English journalist to a later time frame in December 2012. Instead of his prime 9 p.m. spot, the network was reportedly thinking about changing his slot to 10 p.m. or even later.

“They will keep Piers. He’ll be the kind of person Zucker will want to keep. They are not interested in doing a total cleaning of house,” a source told the Post in 2012.

Zucker supposedly wants to replace Morgan with Katie Couric, 56, who has held several major network news posts in her past. Even if he isn’t about to get Couric on board, the CNN president is open to other choices. “He’s looking at other people besides Katie,” an insider told FTVLive.

According to the news site, Couric, who has been filming her own talk show “Katie,” really wants the position at CNN.
