It’s official — “Will & Grace” is returning to NBC nearly 11 years after the series ended. On Wednesday, the network announced that a 10-episode series had been ordered with the original cast returning.

In addition to bringing stars Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally back together, creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan have signed on to the “Will & Grace” limited series as showrunners and executive producers. According to People, James Burrows, the esteemed director behind shows like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory,” will helm the show once again. The news has delighted fans, though little is known about the details of the “Will & Grace” reboot at this time.

When the original series came to an end in 2006, it was in Season 8. The final episode, aptly titled “The Finale,” centered around a falling out between the show’s main characters Will (McCormack) and Grace (Messing), who agreed to marry ex-husband Leo (Harry Connick Jr.) amid doubts about her future with her gay BFF. Their feud lasted several years, during which both went on to have children of their own. The pair reconcile their differences after they were lured back together by Jack (Hayes) and Karen (Mullally).

Meanwhile Karen finalized her divorce from estranged husband Stan only to learn that he didn’t actually have any money. This revelation lead her to start scheming. Karen found out that Beverly Leslie (Leslie Jordan) and his longtime business partner Benji (Brian Setzer) split and decided it would be best if Jack filled Benji’s shoes. Her decision was largely spurned by the revelation that Leslie had offered to share his fortune with him. Beverly later died, leaving Jack with a massive sum of money.

The episode then traveled through time to 20 years in the future. Will and Grace’s children Ben and Laila meet while moving into college. Their friendship once again reunites the dynamic duo who rekindle their friendship. Like their mother and father, Ben and Laila immediately took to one another and decided to marry. Jack and Karen went on to live their own version of happily ever after, moving in together. The ending mirrored a dream Grace had early in the episode while incredibly pregnant.

Will And Grace’s Friendship Stronger Than Ever

Many “Will & Grace” fans were heartbroken when the show’s main characters, who had always been thick as thieves despite the occasional feud, fell out toward the end of the series. With the show slated to return to NBC, we’re hopeful that they’ll still be close all these years later.

Are Grace And Leo Still Together?

Grace remarried Leo in the series finale after divorcing him and moving back in with Will in Season 7. The two decided to give love a second chance on a whim and raise their daughter together in Season 8, but did it last? Only time will tell.

Jack And Karen Living Their Best, Most Luxurious Lives

Jack having come into money means Karen, by association, came into money. Karen is no stranger to luxury, while Jack more or less had champagne taste on a beer budget. We are crossing our fingers that they’re both thoroughly enjoying their fortune and making it last.

“Will & Grace” regularly brought on amazing guest stars to appear in a variety of roles. We remain hopeful that many of the supporting actors featured in Seasons 1 through 8 will return in addition to new ones.
