Will Harry Styles Quit One Direction Next? Singer Wants To Pursue Acting: Report

Zayn Malik rocked the Internet Wednesday when he revealed he quit the famous pop group One Direction. Now it appears One Direction might be two members short after rumors swirled Harry Styles will be the next member of the band to leave, E! News reported Wednesday.

"Harry has told his friends that the wants to get into acting. He loves Los Angeles,” a source told E! News.

Even if he doesn’t quit One Direction for Hollywood, there’s also been speculation that he might leave the boys to start a solo career. "He certainly has hopes of doing solo stuff, branching out on his own, and so this might be the natural juncture in which to do that,” a different insider said. "He considers himself to be on a different path to the other boys.”

He’s even gone as far as collaborating with singers like Ariana Grande, Megan Trainor and Kodaline. "Harry has distanced himself from the rest of the band over the last year,” the insider said.

Though some have slammed Malik’s fiancée, Perrie Edwards, claiming she’s the “Yoko Ono” of One Direction, the star claimed he needed privacy and some time to be 22. "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” he said in a statement on the band’s official Facebook page.

Malik’s name was a top-trending topic on Twitter throughout Wednesday. Styles is arguably more popular than Malik, so there’s no saying what would happen if he left the band. Then again, things worked out just fine when Justin Timberlake split from ‘N Sync, right?
