Though Samsung and Apple are often seen as the most common competitors, the Galaxy Note 8 may now find as its closest competition, another Korean-made Android smartphone. Rumors have indicated that the Galaxy Note 8 may release to market Sept. 15 and the upcoming LG V30 may go on sale on the same day, according to ETNews.

There are a host of smartphones expected to release in late summer and fall. In addition to the Galaxy Note 8 and the LG V30, the Google Pixel 2 and iPhone 7s/8, among others are also scheduled for unveiling and release between September and October. However, Samsung and LG are leading the pack.

Samsung is up first, having confirmed its next Unpacked event for Aug. 23. While still unconfirmed, teasers suggest the Galaxy Note 8 will be unveiled at the launch. The device’s preorder period may span between Sept. 1 and 10 in Korea, according to ETNews, after which consumers can confirm and activate their preorder between Sept. 11 and 14. Some reports have suggested the Galaxy Note 8 may be available for preorder starting Aug. 25 in Australia, while others suggest the device may be available as soon as Aug. 24 in the U.S. There is no word on whether this availability refers to preorders or the actual market launch.

Meanwhile, leaked marketing material has all but confirmed the LG V30, which will be unveiled Aug. 31. Other reports suggest the device may be available for preorder Sept. 17 and for sale Sept. 28 in the U.S. It is possible the Sept. 15 launch date may be for Korea and that other markets may launch the Galaxy Note 8 and LG V30 at later dates.

There have been some interesting rumor developments for both the Galaxy Note 8 and the LG V30. Most recently, reports indicate the Galaxy Note 8 may introduce a Force Touch feature, similar to the 3D Touch feature on the iPhone, while the LG V30 may swap out its signature second display for a floating shortcuts bar. LG may also release a LG V30 Plus model with higher storage capacities, alongside the original LG V30. The Galaxy Note 8 will likely be unveiled on its own, but more a more powerful model may release to select markets after the initial launch.

Long rumored hardware specs for the Galaxy Note 8 include a 6.3-inch dual-edge curved display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 chip depending on the market, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, a dual camera with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,300mAh battery, a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and a USB-C port as well as the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and support Google Daydream.

Specs for the LG V30 will likely include a 6-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm 835 chip, 4-6GB of RAM and 64-128GB of internal storage, a dual camera with a 13-megapixel lenses, one with a f/1.6 aperture, a 3,200mAh battery, a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, a USB-C port and the the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
