Will (Laurie Davidson) is going to find out about Alice’s (Olivia DeJonge) new passion in next week’s episode of “Will.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 8 of the TNT drama, Will is shocked when he discovers that Alice has suddenly become interested in Catholicism.

Following her split from Will and the fire that destroyed the theater, Alice unexpectedly found solace in Southwell (Max Bennett). In Season 1, episode 7, Southwell handed Alice a novelette about Mary Magdalene. Southwell, who is a champion of Catholicism, admitted to Alice that Mary Magdalene’s story isn’t a crowd-pleaser like most of Will’s plays, but Southwell assured her that she would enjoy reading it because Mary Magdalene is “quite an adventurous young woman.”

After another argument with Will, Alice paid Southwell a visit and aired her grievances about the playwright. When Alice mentioned that she’s already tired of Will’s seemingly inconsistent feelings for her, Southwell told the scribe that “there’s only one love that is constant and steadfast, one love that remains faithful and forgiving [and] available to all who seek it.”

After Alice made it clear that she’s done with men trying to play her with words, Southwell invited her to a baptism, in which Southwell himself performed the religious rite. While Alice didn’t utter a single word during the whole process, she noticeably shed a tear at the end of it, suggesting that the holy ceremony moved her.

In the “Inside the Episode” featurette for episode 7, series creator Craig Pearce revealed that Will will try to take matters into his own hands in episode 8.

“Will ends episode [7] with a couple of big problems,” Pearce said in the video interview. “He’s not reconciled with Alice and the terrible things that transpired between them. He has no idea really how to fulfill his promise to Preston (Lukas Rolfe). So Will ends the episode really burdened with conscience and laden with his feelings that it’s time for him to take action. And in the next episode, he has to work out what that action gonna be.”

Elsewhere in episode 8, Marlowe (Jamie Campbell Bower) embarks on a self-destructive path as he remains haunted by his inability to write. Also, a plague hits London, and Richard (Matthias Inwood) discovers what he truly believes in.

“Will” Season 1, episode 8, titled “Your Houses,” airs on Monday, Aug. 21, at 11 p.m. EDT on TNT.
