Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment are developing a crime drama set in China for Fox TV. Chinese filmmaker Eva Jin is also a part of project, reports Variety.

The series will follow a crime fighting female student studying abroad, most probably China. The Fox network has already given a script order, according to the daily.

Will Smith has this sudden interest in China after shooting The Karate Kid there with his son.

Eva Jin directed the romantic comedy Sophie’s Revenge earlier. She is a cartoonist and animator who has moved on to directing films.

Overbrook Entertainment has several projects under its ambit. They are developing an hour-long TV drama based on the movie Hitch. They already have the sitcom All of Us on UPN/CW to their credit.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is also developing a super-secret sci-fi project titled One Thousand A.E. with Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment as a potential starring vehicle for The Karate Kid star Jaden Smith, according to some news reports.
