Microsoft has reportedly started rolling out the latest Windows 10 Mobile update to the Lumia 535 handsets specific to the Middle East.

What Is New?

WMPowerUser has confirmed that some Lumia 535 users in Egypt and Jordan have received the update. However, Microsoft has not officially announced the roll out schedule yet. In any case, the roll out in the Middle East is in-line with the February timeline suggested by past rumors. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that, in a matter of weeks, other regions will also receive this update.

Postponement History

In October 2015, Microsoft acknowledged that older Lumia/Windows Phone devices will receive the Windows 10 Mobile update toward the beginning of December. This date did not materialize. Later, it was rumored that the firmware update will be rolled out in “early 2016.”

Following which, it was reported that European versions of the Microsoft Lumia 640 was about to receive the Windows 10 update. T-Mobile Poland, on the other hand, confirmed the build number of the software update. T-Mobile Germany joined the bandwagon and listed out a bunch of Lumia handsets eligible for upgradation.

In January 2016, reports said Microsoft spoke to its partners about the postponement of the Windows 10 Mobile update once again. The company also postponed the monthly service update for the Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

Eligible Handsets

According to past reports, apart from the Lumia 535, the Lumia 635, Lumia 640 LTE, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 will all be updated to the latest OS. In addition, the Lumia 735, Lumia 630, Lumia 520, Lumia 532, Lumia 625, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1320 will also receive the firmware package eventually.
