Witney Carson just announced that she won’t be participating in the upcoming “DTWS Live!” winter tour due to her father-in-law’s pancreatic cancer.

On her Instagram account, Carson penned a lengthy post about her husband Carson McAllister’s dad and his year-long battle with the illness. The 24-year-old revealed that her father-in-law’s cancer has spread throughout his entire abdomen, so they only have a few weeks left with him.

Carson said that she needs to focus on her family, most especially her husband, during this difficult time. She also wished her Season 25 partner, Frankie Muniz, the best of luck in the upcoming tour.

Meanwhile, Carson and McAllister tied the knot last year after dating since they were in high school. While speaking with People, McAllister said, “She was my dream girl since 7th grade. But she didn’t know I existed until senior year. We became really close friends and kinda started dating. From the second I got to know her, I could tell she was the most loving and understanding girl I’d ever met.”

After graduating from high school, Carson and McAllister went their separate ways for two years. In order to stay connected, they wrote each other e-mails and sent packages.

Carson and McAllister’s long distance relationship continued when she joined ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” and he enrolled in college. After tying the knot, Carson said that she’s happy to be with someone who knows her really well and even before she became a household name in the dance world.

“Just knowing that I have someone who knows me before all of this started, someone who has always been there for me, through thick and thin, it’s such a comfort. He totally keeps me grounded. I love that he’s not in the industry because he can bring me back down to earth,” she said.

DWTS Live!” winter tour will kick off in North Carolina on Dec. 30 and will end in Los Angeles on Mar. 18.
