Canada pulled off a huge 10-3 victory over Mexico in the World Baseball Classic Saturday afternoon, but the game won’t be remembered for a swing of the bat or a dynamic play in the field.

After a warning to both benches and Canada leading 9-3, the benches cleared anyway after Mexico pitcher Arnold Leon drilled Canada’s Rene Tosoni in the top of the ninth.

A melee ensued, and once things calmed down, fans began throwing objects onto the field and at Canada’s players.

According to MLB.com, Leon hit Tosoni after Mexican third baseman Luis Cruz told him to “get him." Despite a six-run lead, Canada had just bunted, and was looking to pad their lead due to the tournament’s run-differential tie-breaker rule.

On the Canadian side, Tosoni, Pete Orr, and Jay Johnson were ejected, while Mexico’s Leon, Oliver Perez, Eduardo Arredondo, Andrew Albers, and Alfred Acves were also tossed.
