Worldwide mobile services revenue will grow gradually by 2014 despite its 0.5 percent loss over the current market conditions according to research on Monday.

It will continue to grow at least 1.2 percent annually by 2014 in revenue even under the worst recovery scenarios, ABI research said.

A long economic recovery places pressures on mobile operators to compete on price,” Director Dan Shey said. “Particularly in its undifferentiated voice services, it allows operators to counter that pressure.”

However, ‘each region is different’, Shey said. Operators should create strategies that lead customers to maintain ‘nice-to-have' data services or encourage addition of more utilitarian ones.

In U.S, ABI expects growth will exceed 8% through 2014 amidst the economic environment and will shield mobile services revenues against growing voice pricing pressures.
