The top three matches for WrestleMania 32 were announced last week on the episode of “Monday Night Raw” after WWE Fastlane 2016. But recent developments have left open the possibility of WWE making major changes to the card for the year’s biggest pay-per-view.

Standing in the way of WrestleMania 32 is WWE Roadblock, a WWE Network special that is set for March 12 in Toronto. The event will be highlighted by Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match that will have a significant impact on WrestleMania 32 if the title changes hands.

After Fastlane, it was announced that Triple H would put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 32. Ambrose was given a match with Brock Lesnar at the April 3 PPV at AT&T Stadium, and The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon was added to the card as well.

A win for Ambrose at Roadblock wouldn’t affect The Undertaker’s match against Shane, who will gain control of “Raw” if he can beat the Deadman. But it would almost certainly alter the main event, opening up a number of possibilities.

Does Ambrose have a realistic chance of beating Triple H and becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion?

Because of what’s transpired over the last few years, it certainly can’t be ruled out that WWE will change course and insert Ambrose into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 32. He’s clearly the most popular full-time wrestler that isn’t currently injured, and that fact has never been more evident than in the last two weeks.

When Triple H attacked Ambrose on Monday, the live crowd was in full support of the Lunatic Fringe. When the COO attacked Reigns a week earlier, the reaction was just the opposite, and Triple H was treated like a babyface.

Reigns was briefly over with the crowd after he won the title in December, but that didn’t last long. Fans have continued to reject the notion of Reigns becoming the next face of WWE, and Vince McMahon has shown a willingness to change his WrestleMania plans based on crowd reactions.

WWE had Seth Rollins win the title at WrestleMania 31, even though original plans reportedly called for Reigns to defeat Lesnar for the belt. WrestleMania 30 was originally supposed to end with Batista defeating Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but the fans were in such support of Daniel Bryan that the now-retired wrestler was put into the match, eventually emerging victorious.

An Ambrose win over Triple H would present a few possibilities. The match card could remain the same, only with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship being on the line for Ambrose vs. Lesnar. WWE could simply add Ambrose to the match between Triple H and Reigns, or the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match could become a fatal 4-way that also features Lesnar.

While the possibility exists, a change to the WrestleMania 32 match card doesn’t seem likely. The March 12 network special has been planned for some time, and WWE needed to give Triple H an opponent. Ambrose is a logical choice, considering he’s so popular and he will cause a lot of fans to watch the event.

But Ambrose’s title shot is an interesting wrinkle that WWE has added on the road to WrestleMania, and one that at least has a chance to play a major role in the biggest match of 2016.
