Hart Hits Punk
CM Punk layed out after being struck by Bret "The Hitman" Hart" WWE.com

The latest information on Jerry Lawler's collapse and heart attack on Monday's RAW says the 62-year-old announcer/wrestler remains in stable condition. Lawler was brought to a hospital in Montreal and is expected to have surgery on Tuesday, according to several news reports.

Before King's collapse, Bret Hart made his first appearance in the Bell Center in Montreal after the 1997 Montreal Screwjob. CM Punk and John Cena also heightened tension before their Night of Champions match for the WWE Title, Hart punched the WWE Champion, Kane and Bryan teamed up and more.

The Hitman was met with thunderous applause when he first arrived and kept the crowd going every time he appeared throughout the night, even managing to get Punk over as a heel. The audience booed the ultra-popular and villainous WWE Champion, and cheered at the end of the program when Hart punched Punk in the face after an intense segment featuring the two men and John Cena.

Cena was being interviewed by Hart at the end of the show when Punk interrupted and received a shot to the head from the Excellence of Execution. The tension for the Night of Champions main event is reaching new heights as Cena gets closer than he has been almost a year to holding the WWE Championship again.

Kane and Daniel Bryan have at least temporarily put their differences aside and become the no. 1 contenders for the tag team championships at Night of Champions. The Prime Time Players believed themselves to be in line for a title shot, but RAW General Manager AJ Lee placed the four men in a match to decide.

This is the match where commentary and audience members were distracted by the collapse of Jerry Lawler. While King's serious health issues were going on, Kane Chokeslamed Bryan onto Darren Young and got the victory.

Earlier in the night Randy Orton and Jerry Lawler faced CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler in a tag match of their own. The bout came after the WWE Universe voted via twitter to have Punk face Orton, and their match was interrupted by Ziggler.

After Orton won by disqualification over Punk, the tag team match was created to incorporate the two rivalries. Lawler performed well during the match, and his team was victorious when Orton hit an RKO on Ziggler and pinned him.

Ziggler was abandoned mid-match by the WWE Champion after Punk and his new business associate Paul Heyman casually decided to leave ringside. Punk repeated what he said last year in his original "Pipe Bomb" promo; he's a "Paul Heyman guy."

The tactics WWE are using to vilify the Second City Saint are better than any in recent memory. Punk still holds a fan base of diehard wrestling fans, but the general audience has slowly changed their minds about him, and associating him with Paul Heyman not only makes him seem more villainous, but keeps Brock Lesnar in the backs of people's minds for when the MMA fighter returns again.

The night was full of tag team action, with Tag Team Champions R-Truth and Kofi Kingston vs. Intercontinental Champion The Miz and United States Champion Antonio Cesaro. The tag team champions appropriately won the match, but it is concerning that WWE is making its title holders look week before they defend their belts at Night of Champions.

Neither Miz nor Cesaro have a set opponent looking to take their belts at Night of Champions. The pay-per-view pre-show will feature a No. 1 contender's battle royal to see who faces Cesaro for his newly earned US Title.

Night of Champions opponents Alberto Del Rio and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus each defeated a mid-card talent last night. Del Rio conquered Tyson Kidd, a Canadian local who has ties to the Hart family, and Sheamus beat Otunga.

The latter match featured no commentary, as it was after Jerry Lawler collapsed at ringside. After the Celtic Warrior was victorious, he Brogue Kicked the Harvard educated Otunga. SmackDown General Manager Booker T then came out and said if Sheamus used the maneuver after it was banned on last Friday's SmackDown, Sheamus would be stripped of his World Title.

Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio also faced off in a one-on-one match with no commentary. The last match of the evening saw Rhodes get a pin on Mysterio after outside interference from The Miz.

Ryback picked up another easy win over Heath Slater after hitting the One-Man Band with Shellshocked. The Ryback character is getting over with the crowd; "feed me more" chants are a Ryback match stable even though he still only performs against jobbers.

Eve Torres, Kaitlyn and Divas Champion Layla all teamed up despite being involved in the Night of Champions match for the title. The three women faced Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox and Natalya in a six-diva tag team match.

Eve isn't directly involved in this Sunday's title bout, but she mostly will interject herself in some way after how involved she's been in the feud. Regadless of what will happen Sunday, Eve hit Fox with a neckbreaker for the win.
