No matter what he’s done in the months prior, John Cena’s WrestleMania match is always among the biggest on the card. Even with his current part-time schedule, that remains the same for WWE’s biggest event of 2018.

While Cena’s WrestleMania 34 opponent isn’t yet known, you can be certain that it will be a marquee name. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer refuted rumors (via Cageside Seats) last week that Cena would face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34, noting that the 16-time world champion would have a “much bigger match.”

If accurate, that leaves a short list of wrestlers that could potentially take on Cena at New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome on April 8. Styles will enter the 2018 Royal Rumble as the WWE Champion and one of the most popular wrestlers on either “Monday Night Raw” or “SmackDown Live.”

Brock Lesnar and possibly Roman Reigns are the only superstars on the current WWE roster that could give Cena a bigger match than one with Styles. Cena already faced Reigns at No Mercy in September, and it seems clear that Lesnar vs. Reigns will headline WrestleMania 34.

That’s led to speculation that Cena will have a match with a wrestler that doesn’t regularly perform in WWE. Goldberg could be an option, following his return to the company that stretched from Survivor Series 2016 to WrestleMania 33. Maybe Batista is a possibility, given that he returned four years ago to main event WrestleMania.

There’s always a chance that Cena could finally have a WrestleMania match with The Undertaker. It’s hard to believe that it hasn’t happened at some point over the last 15 years. Cena has been WWE’s biggest star since 2005, and The Undertaker is the most legendary performer in WrestleMania history.

The Undertaker’s WrestleMania 33 match suggests that he won’t return to face Cena. He appeared to retire in the ring after he lost to Reigns in the show’s main event. The Deadman hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania 33 ended.

Cena teamed up with Nikki Bella to defeat The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. The match itself wasn’t among the most-anticipated on the card, but one of the night’s biggest moments occurred shortly after the final bell rang when Cena proposed to Nikki.

Cena didn’t have a scheduled match at WrestleMania 32 because of an injury, but he made a surprise appearance during a segment with The Rock.

WrestleMania 31 was the last time Cena had a title match at the show when he defeated Rusev for the United States Championship. Cena last fought for a world title at WrestleMania when he defeated The Rock for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 29 in 2013.
