This Friday’s “SmackDown” was taped at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., on Oct. 16. The show featured World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus finally pinning Wade Barrett after two previous matches between the men ending in disqualification, according to ProWrestling.Net.

Sheamus fighting Wade Barrett has been the highlight of the past week. Their match on “RAW” this Monday was close to the best fight of the three-hour show, with a lot of back-and-forth and aggressive maneuvers from the two performers.

This Friday’s “SmackDown” has the Celtic Warrior coming out on top after a lumberjack match, which has the rules of a normal fight, but the ring is surrounded by other wrestlers who are waiting to attack if either man goes over the ropes.

Dolph Ziggler tried to cash in his Money in the Bank contract after he hit his finishing move on Sheamus, following the match, but he was thwarted by Big Show. The Giant hit Ziggler with the KO Punch before the Showoff could start his spontaneous championship match.

Earlier in the night, Big Show and Ziggler teamed up to face Tag Team Champions Kane and Daniel Bryan in a non-title match. The Giant and the Showoff lost to the dysfunctional tag team, setting Kane and Bryan up as a dominant force just two weeks before they defend their belts at Hell in a Cell.

Their opponents will be either Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara or Rhodes Scholars. The team of Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow will face Mysterio and Cara next week on “RAW” after the match was canceled this past Monday when Mysterio was sick.

Rhodes Scholars are looking like the likely winners after they won their match on “RAW” and defeated Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. The team of Gabriel and Kidd goes by International Airstrike, but they haven’t done much in the tag division yet, which is unfortunate because they’re both exciting performers.

The Miz lost his Intercontinental Title to Kofi Kingston on “Main Event” this past Wednesday, and he followed that loss with another to Randy Orton at the opening of “SmackDown.” Before the Viper took down the Awesome One, Miz said announced that he would be facing Kingston in a rematch at Hell in a Cell on the Oct. 28.

Now, the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view has WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Ryback, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Big Show, Tag Team Champions Kane and Daniel Bryan vs. the tag tournament winners, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. the Miz, Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio, and probably matches involving United States Champion Antonio Cesaro and Divas Champion Eve Torres.

Cesaro defeated Ted DiBiase in another non-title match on “SmackDown,” winning another lower-mid card fight. Even though Cesaro isn’t facing big names in the company, his style makes for great matches with performers who go underappreciated.

On the subject of the lower-mid card, Heath Slater defeated Brodus Clay, after the Funkasaurus defeated Slater numerous times at the beginning of this year. Apparently, officials have grown as tired of Clay’s gimmick as the fans have, and now they’re moving Slater, a former jobber up after creating his stable 3MB.

There was a Diva’s match where Layla beat Natalya in about 90 seconds to minimal crowd reaction. WWE either needs to remove the women’s division or actually use it, because the Diva’s bouts have gotten to a depressing point.
