Scully (Gillian Anderson, left) and Mulder (David Duchovny, right) return in Fox's "X-Files" reboot, premiering Jan. 24. Fox

The premiere of Fox's highly anticipated "X-Files" reboot is a little less than two months away, but for long suffering fans of the cult classic sci-fi series, that must seem like an eternity. Gillian Anderson, who reprises her role as the iconic Scully in the show's six-episode return, would like the show's viewers to know she understands how they feel.

“I can imagine what that must be like as a fan,” says Anderson of watching the reboot, in a behind-the-scenes video released on the show's official YouTube account. “You see these familiar faces and the familiar crossbeams of light coming out of the darkness and hear that soundtrack.”

However, fans have much more to be excited about than just the show's iconic score -- great as it may be.

Also in the video, series creator Chris Carter teases that the reboot will "twist the mythology in a whole new way," adding that, "the government's secreting of evidence about extra-terrestrials might come into play."

Fox has been aiding the anticipation for Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully's return with a series of promos airing after new episodes of "Gotham." In the latest, Mulder is heard asking, "What if our work, the X-files, everything we’ve been led to believe in, is a lie?"

"Then do something about it," a voice answers.

This follows a series of promos featuring the show's iconic Smoking Man, played by William B. Davis.

In addition to Davis, the reboot features an impressive list of guest stars, including Joel McHale (“Community”), Robbie Amell (“The Flash”), Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”), Annabeth Gish (“The Bridge”), Annet Mahendru (“The Americans”), Rhys Darby (“Flight of the Conchords”) and Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”).
