Empire magazine has revealed, via Coming Soon, new concept art for Marvel's “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The art features Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm. Cyclops is shown emitting high-energy beams from his eyes and is battling Storm, who appears to be in a black costume. Jean Grey is shown protecting herself by hiding under a tin roof.

In the comics, Cyclops (to be played in the film by Tye Sheridan) is a mutant who fights for peace and equality. He is one of the primary leaders of the X-Men and must sport his eyewear all the time in order to control the beams. His wife is Jean Grey, a caring and nurturing figure. Her mutant abilities include telepathic and telekinetic powers; Sophie Turner will portray her in the film. Meanwhile, Storm is Grey’s best friend and has the ability to control weather. Alexandra Shipp will portray her.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is shooting in Montreal and will open in theaters in May 2016. Bryan Singer ("X-Men: Days of Future Past") is directing the film from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are set to lead the cast, which also includes Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Ben Hardy, Lana Condor and Olivia Munn.

Lawrence and Hoult will reprise their roles of Mystique and Beast. Fassbender will play Magneto and McAvoy will play Professor X. The main villain, Apocalypse, will be played Issac. In the comics, Apocalypse is an immortal mutant whose alter ego is En Sabah Nur. He was born 5,000 years ago in Egypt and is considered the first human with the X-gene. He is also known as “the First One.”

Issac said he is thrilled to play the role. “It’s a character that I always just loved – just because it freaked me out. He would be a god on Earth. And he wouldn’t think of himself as a mutant. Humans are mutants; everything’s a mutant – things that evolve. So I’m playing with what that is and encompassing that in someone that has these kinds of powers,” he said about his character, Cinemablend reported.
