Since the Xbox One hit store shelves in North America, Australia, New Zealand and several European markets on Nov. 22, more than one million people have been devoting countless hours to Microsoft's latest gaming console.

“We are humbled and gratified by the overwhelming response from our fans to the launch of Xbox One,” Microsoft Xbox Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Yusuf Mehdi said. “Eleven days in, we are seeing record breaking sales and are selling every Xbox One we can.”

A recent survey by Microsoft found that Xbox One players have spent more than 50 million hours playing the recently launched system.

While the convenience of watching television shows and films are certainly among the Xbox One's best features, gamers are also logging extensive hours playing new releases like "Dead Rising 3."

Microsoft calculated that more than 3 billion zombies have been killed in the highly anticipated third installment of Capcom's "Dead Rising" series. Turn 10 Studios’ “Forza Motorsport 5” has also received some positive attention, with more than 90 million miles driven by players, which is the equivalent to 3,673 journeys around the globe.

The Xbox One launched exactly one week after Sony’s PlayStation 4, which is still sold out in many stores and online outlets in the U.S. Microsoft's console went head to head with Sony when both systems sold more than one million units within 24 hours of their release.

Microsoft plans to supply stores with more consoles to meet holiday demand, which will undoubtedly mean higher Xbox One sales.
