XCOM: Enemy Unknown has finally made its way to Android devices.

Despite a tweet two days ago denying that the game would be available on Google Play, the main Android app store, publisher 2K Games launched XCOM: Enemy Unknown yesterday in the Play store.

The game began retail life in 2012 as a PC and Xbox 360 title; XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a reboot of the XCOM series - a tactical, turn-based shooter/strategy game. It blends a classic story of human survival against an alien invasion with the depth and decision-making of perennial strategy games like Fire Emblem and to a lesser extent, Command & Conquer.

Enemy Unknown was eventually ported to PlayStation3, iOS, and Mac OSX, but until now remained unavailable for Android devices. Its difficult learning curve has earned it a reputation as a hardcore title, but bringing it to Android opens up another large potential market.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now on sale for $9.99 in the Google Play Store.
