Microsoft is rumored to be working on Windows 10 Mobile ROM for upcoming smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3. The Redmond giant had officially released its ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 users in December 2015. The company is now expected to bring the ROM to more smartphones this year.

According to Nokia Power User, Microsoft will soon release the Windows 10 Mobile ROM for OnePlus 2 owners. It is interesting to note that it plans to release its ROM to smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 5 and OnePlus 3 that have not released yet.

When Xiaomi announced the Mi Pad 2 tablet, it was unveiled in two separate editions of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Windows 10 OS. Hence, the Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors suggest that it will be launched in two OS versions, one featuring Android 6.0 and the other with Windows 10 Mobile OS onboard.

Other rumors suggest that the Mi 5 will not be launched in a Windows 10 Mobile version but will be still able to run Microsoft’s operating system through its ROM. According to Softpedia, Microsoft has teamed with Xiaomi and OnePlus in order to bring Windows 10 Mobile ROM to number of smartphones.

Microsoft is consistently working on bettering the performance of its Windows 10 Mobile OS. The Redmond giant was expected to release Windows 10 Mobile OS in December last year to eligible devices. However, its arrival was pushed to January. Since it did not arrive last year, it is now rumored to release at the Windows 10 Mobile OS update from Feb. 29.

The Redmond giant has now released a Windows 10 Mobile Preview build of 14217 for users have registered for the Windows Insider program. Currently, the only smartphones that ship with Windows 10 Mobile are Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 550 and Lumia 650.
