Xiaomi has officially announced the arrival of the global version of MIUI 8 at the unveil event of Xiaomi Mi Max smartphone in India. The Chinese manufacturer had announced the Chinese edition of the software in May.

According to GSM Arena, the global edition of MIUI 8 is packed with all the features that are available on the Chinese version. Its notification drawer comes with a major update that now includes a consolidated list. There is a weather panel placed at the topside that animates and changes colors automatically according to the weather. The color of the status bar also changes automatically across the different apps.

The MIUI 8 modified Android OS has become smarter. It allows users to snap scrolling screenshots. Users can also merge multiple images to shoot a scrolling screenshot. Quick Ball that sits on the side of the screen includes quick access to numerous functions like shortcuts to different apps, app switcher and more.

The Dual Apps feature of MIUI allows users to launch two instances of the same app. For example, users can run two accounts of WhatsApp on the same device. Both the accounts will use the respective SIMs present on the device.

Dual spaces enable users to have two separate workspaces on the same device. Each workspace can have its own apps, customizations, photo gallery, and password protection to access it. It is handy feature on tablets that are shared between several users.

Even contact numbers of the incoming phone calls are not stored on the device, the Caller ID feature will automatically display who is calling along with other contact details. The same feature is also available for messages. It will reveal who the name of the unknown senders.

The MIUI 8 will be available for Mi series smartphones such as Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi Max, MI Note, Mi 4i, MI 4, Mi 3 and Mi 2. It also be available Redmi series phones such as Redmi note 3, Note 2, Note Prime, 2 Prime, Redmi 2 and Redmi 1S. Xiaomi will be releasing public beta of MIUI 8 by July 11 and the stable version be released on Aug. 16.
