After hitting new multi-day highs in previous trading, the Japanese currency traded lower against most of its major counterparts during New York deals on Monday.

The yen climbed to 11-day highs of 135.78 against the British pound and 83.43 versus the Swiss franc by about 3:40 am ET today. Thereafter, the yen reversed its direction and currently, trading near 138.62 against the pound and 84.64 versus the franc, compared to Friday's close of 140.19 and 58.54, respectively.

After spiked up to a weekly high of 95.97 as of 3:40 am ET, the Japanese currency ticked down against its US counterpart in today's New York session. As of now, the yen is worth 97.52, which may be compared to last week's closing value of 97.88.

Against the European single currency, the Japanese yen also edged down in New York deals from European session's multi-day high of 126.43. The pair that closed Friday's deals at 130.12 is now trading at 128.29.
