Yves Saint Laurent designer, Stephano Pilati landed in New York City on June 1 to showcase the Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012 Collection. Perfect for Fleet Week, Pilati was most definitely feeling nautical when designing this resort line. This chic collection combined two springtime favorites - naval inspired looks and poppy, which suggested elements of traditional clean cut uniforms and the ever famous forties-inspired charm.

The opening of the show was bright and bold with a poppy red leather trench coat over a fresh cotton shirt and wedged heels. Numerous looks of poppy red soon followed yet never braving the runway without classy nautical accessories such as gold anchor chains, white belts, and gold buttons. Black and white micro shorts with anchors woven throughout created a playful theme when matched with an elegant black and white blouse.

The transition from daytime to evening was smooth and graceful with daytime prints mixed with deep hues of blue and red. Mediterranean patterns also sailed along with the red, white, and blue stripes. Shorts and blouse blossomed into feminine gowns and beautifully cut frocks in order to radiate a 'seaside meets the city theme.'
