It’s well-documented that the “Dancing With the Stars” pros tend to find love with one another, but the competing celebrities also have had some luck when it comes to finding romance in the pursuit of a Mirrorball Trophy.

While not quite as many celebrity/pro romances have led to a happy ending as the pro/pro romances, the ABC show’s dance floor has still been a great place to have a shot at love for several of the celebrities who have participated, and many of the pros have gone on to find romance with either their partners or others connected to the show.

Check out the pairs who have seemingly formed a romantic partnership both on and off the dance floor.

Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev

The most recent pair to cement their love on “DWTS” were Season 25 partners Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev. While she was still engaged to John Cena at the time, after that relationship came to an end, the WWE and reality star went on to start dating her former partner. Things turned serious between the two, and they wound up getting engaged in France in November 2019—confirming the news on social media in January 2020. A wedding date has not been confirmed.

Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas

Back in Season 5, Sabrina Bryan’s shocking elimination did have one bright element to it—a romance with her partner at the time, Mark Ballas. The romance fizzled out a few months later, but the two remained friendly after their split. Both have since married, with Ballas marrying fellow musician BC Jean in 2016, while Bryan wed Jordan Lundberg in 2018.

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence

While their romance isn’t conventional by “DWTS” standards, the show did lead to their eventual introduction. Back when Joey Lawrence competed on the show in Season 3, his brother was there to cheer him on. That led to his meeting Burke, whom he dated for a short while before they split up. They later reunited and went on to marry in May 2019.

Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy

Season 18 saw Maks Chmerkovskiy not only win his first and only Mirrorball Trophy, but it also led to him being the focus of several rumors regarding whether or not he and partner Meryl Davis were a couple. The rumors wound up being just that--he wound up marrying fellow pro Peta Murgatroyd three years later, while Davis married Fedor Andreev in 2019.

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

Season 6 saw a blossoming relationship between Shannon Elizabeth and her partner, Derek Hough, which lasted for about a year after their time on the show came to an end. They remained good friends after their split, and moved on, as Hough is dating former “DWTS” troupe dancer Hayley Erbert, and has been for a few years.

Kym Johnson-Herjavec and Robert Herjavec

Wedding bells rang not too long after Kym Johnson an Robert Herjavec danced together in Season 20. The pair quickly began dating after they were introduced and wound up marrying in 2016. They have also since welcomed twins together, Haven Mae and Hudson Robert, in 2018.

Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff

Season 3 led to romance for Karina Smirnoff and her partner, Mario Lopez, who dated for a while after their time on the show. The romance fizzled out a couple of years later. Lope went on to marry Courtney Mazza in 2012 and welcomed a son, Dominic, and daughter, Gia Francesca with her. Smirnoff called off engagements to pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, MLB player Brad Penny and entrepreneur Jason Adelman in subsequent years. She is currently expecting her first child.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd

The two didn’t date while on the show but relived the fact that they had actually gone on a handful of dates together prior to his participation on the show after they learned they would be dancing together in Season 18. Murgatroyd later married Maksim Chmerkovskiy, with whom she shares a son, Shai.

Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten

Another romance that seemed to heat up screens occurred in Season 27, when model Alexis Ren and partner Alan Bersten both admitted to having feelings for one another during the season—and even went on to share a kiss during one of their packages on the show. However, within weeks of their season coming to an end, the pair’s romance was over, allegedly due to scheduling conflicts. Ren later went on to date Netflix heartthrob Noah Centineo.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough

While they were a couple on the show, the romance between former pro/judge Julianne and country singer Wicks actually began prior to their time together on the dance floor. Their romance fizzled out though afterward, and Hough went on to date Ryan Seacrest for a few years before marrying hockey player Brooks Laich in 2017. Wicks meanwhile, married Kasi Williams Morstad in 2019.

“Dancing With the Stars” is expected to return for Season 29 in Fall 2020.
