Three baby food products were recalled by Plum Organics this week after the discovery of a spoilage defect.

In a statement released Friday, the organic baby food company confirmed that specific Baby Stage 2, Tots Mish Mash and Kids lines Plum pouch products are being voluntarily recalled for potential spoilage. “We started this company with the mission of providing the very best food to little ones from the very first bite. Because of our unwavering commitment to that mission, I’m writing to information you that we are conducting a voluntary recall,” said Plum Organics co-founder and President Neil Grimmer in a press release.

According to the press release, the potential spoilage was the direct result of a manufacturing defect that can cause some of the products’ pouches to swell. The defective products in question can be identified by their “Best By” dates, which range from August 5, 2014, to December 8, 2014, and contain the letter “AT.” The company has advised parents to immediately discontinue use of the affected products. The company says it will give product replacement vouchers to customers currently in possession of a defective food product.

“Plum has worked hard to earn the trust of parents, and we fully intend on maintaining that trust,” said the statement, continuing, “We are taking every action to ensure that our highest standards are being met and that we are providing only the best nutrition for our children and yours.”
