The upcoming “Black Widow” movie, which is expected to be released in 2020, will be the last time that the fans will see Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). But, the film will also be introducing a character who will be replacing the spy/assassin.

The comic book character Yelena Belova will be making her debut in the upcoming Marvel film. Florence Pugh is expected to play this important role, but so far the studio hasn’t confirmed this news.

Who is Yelena Belova? According to the comic books, the character was trained as a spy by the Russians, but she later defected to the U.S. This is the second character in the comic books who is referred to as the Black Widow, Screen Rant reported.

It remains to be seen what Yelena Belova’s origin story will be in the upcoming film, but in the comics she started off as being Natasha’s rival. It was only later that the two became allies. Will “Black Widow” movie take a similar route in introducing the new character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Apart from Yelena, the film will also be introducing a new villain. According to the leaked photos from the production set, the big baddie in the movie is expected to be the Taskmaster, IGN reported.

The Taskmaster is a mercenary in the comic books. What makes him a formidable opponent is that he has the ability to mimic the fighting style of his opponents. He used to earn a living by teaching other villains from organizations like Hydra.

Details about the names of the characters the cast members will be playing are currently being kept under wraps. One of the main cast members of the film whose addition was confirmed just last month is Ray Winstone from “The Departed,” Variety reported.

“Black Window” film is being directed by Cate Shortland. The plot of the film is currently unknown.
