Rami Malek was reportedly eyed to play the main villain in “Bond 25” film, but the actor couldn’t do it because of his commitment to the final season of “Mr. Robot” TV series. In other casting news about the film, Lea Seydoux will be reprising her role from “Spectre.”

According to Variety, insiders have revealed that Malek was being eyed to play the role of the main villain in the next James Bond film. The only problem with his casting was the clash of dates. The final season of “Mr. Robot” starts filming in March next year and it will go on until July, which means the actor can’t work on any other project during this time.

Meanwhile, Seydoux will be returning to the James Bond franchise. She will be reprising her role as the psychologist Madeleine Swann, a role that she previously played in “Spectre.”

Lead actor of the franchise Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role in “Bond 25.” The actor is currently busy filming Rian Johnson’s film “Knives Out.”

The character James Bond has been around for decades, and he continues to excite people across the globe. According to a report by ET Canada, the British secret agent has a bit of a drinking problem. A new study titled “License to swill: James Bond’s drinking over six decades” was published in the Medical Journal of Australia. The study was conducted by researchers from University of Otago in New Zealand.

The study examined Bond’s drinking habits from the movies that were released between 1962 and 2015. Lead author of the study Professor Nick Wilson found that the character had a problem, and explained the risks as drinking before fights, driving vehicles, high stakes gambling, and operating complex machinery.

The excitement for the character, inspite of his “drinking problem,” should continue with the next movie as well. However, only some preliminary work has been done for “Bond 25” so far.

According to a previous report by Screen Rant, “Bond 25” director Cary Fukunaga said that the script is still being written. The film has been plagued by a few problems. Danny Boyle was originally chosen the helm the flick, but he stepped down citing creative differences. Craig reportedly kept disagreeing with Boyle’s choices for the new villain.

Craig’s return is also a little unexpected. “Spectre” was supposed to be the end of the story for the new Bond, but Craig agreed to do one more film in 2017.

“Bond 25” will be released on Feb 14, 2020 in the US.
