Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who are renowned for their philanthropic efforts, have given a large donation of $340,000 to Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid, to cover the health care for children, who have been left homeless in war-torn Somalia.

It was a token of Jolie’s gratitude to those refugees, who have encouraged her to be a better parent.

“I'm so grateful - I don't want to cry - to the refugee families that I have the honor and privilege to spend the last years with?” Jolie stated.

“From them I've learned so much. I've learned to be a better person, a better mother. They've inspired me by showing me the unbreakable strength of the human spirit,” she added.

The nation is undergoing its worst famine in 60 years, which threatens the lives of 750,000 people for the coming months after having claimed 29,000 children under 5 years old, according to UN.

Badbaado camp, in Mogadishu, serves around 300 women and children each day, Mohamed Dahir, an official of the relief group said.

The donation from the Hollywood stars' Jolie-Pitt Foundation will help his group survive the battle against famine, he added.
