  • The return of Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2 has been met with criticisms
  • Players complain about cheating and several technical issues
  • Bungie has already addressed the cheating controversy and has banned players

After the initial euphoria brought by the return of the Trials of Osiris tournament in Destiny 2, fans are now filled with disappointment due to several issues affecting the game.

Trials of Osiris is a multiplayer tournament in which teams of three take on each other in an intense PvP (player vs. player) matches. The goal of the challenge is to win seven games in a row, with rewards waiting after three, five and seven straight wins.

Players can loot armors and weapons as they progress, but they have to start over after hitting three total losses.

While there has been massive anticipation for the return of Trials, it wasn’t exactly as smooth sailing as Bungie would have thought. Several issues have surfaced in the challenge, particularly cheating which cannot be detected during matches.

“Bungie will you please fix trials of osiris. No matter how many games I play or how many Lfg's I try to join I still can't win because of Cheaters and Hackers,” one player wrote on Twitter.

According to a report by GameRant, Bungie has already banned players found cheating and those players who had a cheat tool running in the background of their PCs. However, that doesn’t alleviate concerns since cheating can still run rampant in the game.

Some players also complained about the matchmaking system in the game, the meta which seems to only favor a few weapons, as well as the Flawless rewards that are not only inconsistent but also doesn’t meet the expectations of players.

On the other hand, in an article on Forbes, game writer and contributor Paul Tassi emphasized the uneven matchmaking that makes it impossible for “average players” to win games – much more complete the main objective.

“Rather, the main problems, as I see them, are that either the card-based, connection-based system is not working as intended at all, or the pool of players is simply so high skilled with no one of my “average” skill level even trying, that I keep getting thrown into what feels like impossible to win matches,” Tassi wrote.

It remains to be seen what actions Bungie will take to resolve the issues. However, it sure looks like they need to do something sooner rather than later.
