Kitty has entered the Lyon’s den! In a new sneak peek of Season 3 of Fox’s “Empire” fans a first look at Mariah Carey’s character, a singer named Kitty.

In the promo, released Friday, Kitty is seen in the studio recording a song with Jamal (Jussie Smollett). The teaser also shows Kitty telling Cookie (Taraji P. Henson): “You’ve always got a trick up your sleeve.” Carey will make her debut on the show’s Oct. 5 episode.

It was announced this month that the “Obsessed” singer had landed a guest role on “Empire.” A press release stated that Kitty would be teaming up with Jamal for a debut but things start to go south and Kitty has to help Jamal overcome some obstacles and make a music breakthrough.

Last month, Henson dished on working with Carey, telling reporters at the Television Critics Association that she was “grateful” the 46-year-old singer decided to make an appearance on the hip-hop drama. “She was great, she’s fabulous,” Henson said (via Yahoo! TV). “She’s beautiful to look at. She brings a sense of what Mariah brings to the music industry. She brought it to our show.”

In an interview with “Extra” on Monday, Henson revealed that Kitty is a close friend of Cookie’s. “She is a performer and she is helping Jamal get through his difficulties,” she said.

Other guest stars on this season of “Empire” include Taye Diggs as a wealthy and well-respected councilman named Angelo Dubois. Diggs’ character is being compared to President Barack Obama, and is rumored to be a new love interest for Cookie. Also making cameos are Birdman as himself, actress and singer Sierra McClain as a young singer named Nessa and French Montana as a music mogul named Vaughn, who runs in Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) inner circle.

“Empire” Season 3 premieres Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
