The Blacklist
James Spader returns to "The Blacklist" as Red in the Season 2 premiere on Monday, Sept. 22. NBC

It’s time to set those DVRs. The fall premiere season is in full swing, and TV lovers won’t want to miss a minute of the exciting Monday-night lineup.

The entertainment kicks off at 8 p.m. EDT with the premiere of one of the most anticipated new dramas of the 2014 season: “Gotham.” From executive producers Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller, Fox’s “Gotham” is not just another Batman story. Instead it’s a twist on Commissioner James Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) rise in the troubled city of Gotham, and how the villains became the infamous bad guys we know today. Viewers can look forward to meeting a young Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Catwoman (Carmen Bicondova), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Poison Ivy (Clare Foley).

Also at 8 p.m. is the sixth-season premiere of NBC’s “The Voice,” which will introduce new coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams. Stefani and Williams will join returning “Voice” coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for the first night of blind auditions.

Those looking for some good laughs at 8 p.m. won’t want to miss “The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 premiere. The CBS sitcom will kick off with an hourlong double episode and dive into what happened to Sheldon after he fled in the Season 7 finale. Fans can also look forward to seeing how the comedy will explain Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting’s drastic new pixie cut.

Things will heat up at 9 p.m. with the Season 2 premiere of Fox’s breakout hit from 2013, “Sleepy Hollow.” Fans will remember that the network renewed the supernatural drama just a few weeks after its September premiere last year. The second season will continue to follow Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) as they attempt to free themselves from the sticky situation they got into in the Season 1 finale, and work toward defeating the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

TV lovers looking to dive into something new can tune into CBS at 9 p.m. EDT for the series premiere of “Scorpion.” Boasting an impressive cast of Elyes Gabel (“Body of Proof”), Katharine McPhee (“Smash”), Robert Patrick (“The Unit”) and Eddie Kaye Thomas (“American Pie”), this is one new tech drama you won’t want to miss. Inspired by a true story, “Scorpion” is about a group of geniuses who may be a bit socially awkward but manage to solve the nation’s crises as Homeland Security’s new think tank.

Monday night will round out at 10 p.m. EDT with the highly anticipated Season 2 premiere of NBC’s 2013 hit “The Blacklist.” James Spader returns as Red, an international criminal working with the FBI to catch other bad guys. Season 2 will find Red teaming back up with Liz (Megan Boone) as they attempt to track down Berlin (Peter Stormare), the Season 1 villain who has eluded Red for years. Meanwhile, viewers will have to keep an eye out for more clues that hint at Red’s possible paternal connection to Liz.

ABC’s new crime drama with a supernatural twist, “Forever,” will air a special preview on Monday at 10 p.m. The series follows Dr. Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), a medical examiner in New York City who also happens to be immortal. “Forever” will make its time-slot premiere on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT.
