Last year was a good year for the “Game of Thrones.” HBO series’ won the Emmy’s Outstanding Drama Series category last year but will they enjoy the same privilege this year?

The number of nominations of the “Game of Thrones” for the upcoming 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards was enormous. Although bets had been placed that the HBO’s prime series will bring home the bacon, social media fans aren’t too confident about it winning the Outstanding Drama Series category.

The official Twitter account of the “Game of Thrones” uploaded a tweet, on Tuesday, announcing the said nomination.

The said tweet gathered various reactions from netizens. See how they reacted after finding out the nomination of “Game of Thrones” for the 2019 Emmy’s Outstanding Drama Series category.

Despite the undesirable feedbacks, there are some who think that the “Game of Thrones” cast deserve their individual nominations. One in particular are the nominations of Emilia Clarke, who plays the character of Daenerys Targaryen, for Outstanding Lead Actress and Kit Harington, playing the character of Jon Snow, for Outstanding Lead Actor.

There were 32 nominations for “Game of Thrones” and by far this is the most one television series has in one season. Not discounting the capacity of “GOT’s” contenders to vie for the win as they ["Better Call Saul," "Bodyguard," “Killing Eve,” "Ozark,” "Pose,” "Succession," and "This Is Us"] are all worthy competitors, but the Academy normally favors a back-to-back win, Harper Bazaar reported.

That said, the number of nominations for “Game of Thrones” increases the probability of it winning in numerous categories; thereby increasing the possibility of it grabbing the Outstanding Drama Series category win.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage, who played the characters of brothers Jaime and Tyrion Lannister, respectively, were nominated for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Vox reported.

Meanwhile, Gwendoline Christie, who played the character of Brienne of Tarth, Lena Headey who took the character of Cersei Lannister, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who played the roles of sisters Sansa and Arya Stark, respectively, were nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The “Game of Thrones” premiered on April 17, 2011 and the quest on who will sit on the Iron Throne continued until the series’ 8th and final season, 1st episode of which aired on April 14, 2019.

The last and final episode of HBO series’ “Game of Thrones” was entitled, “The Iron Throne.” Whilst the writers felt victorious about it, the viewers did not share the same thoughts, The New Yorker reported.
