  • The next official update for "GTA Online" will fix the game's excruciatingly long loading times
  • The fix was originally discovered by a user named t0st
  • Rockstar gave t0st a $10,000 reward for fixing the issue

The initial loading time for “Grand Theft Auto Online” is set to get a massive reduction thanks to one fix that Rockstar Games is planning to implement in a future patch.

The fix was originally discovered by a player named t0st, who posted how he found and resolved the issue in his blog. According to t0st, he was able to reduce the loading times for “GTA Online” by a whopping 70%.

He wrote in his blog that one of the main issues for the slow loading time was because of bad coding that causes extreme bottlenecking whenever the game was loading. After fixing the issue, the player reported a five-minute reduction to the game’s loading speed, from six minutes down to just one.

The loading time fix was eventually published and gained plenty of traction online, which was eventually noticed by Rockstar Games.

Rockstar told PC Gamer that they were planning to release an update to “GTA Online” that included t0st’s loading time fix, among a list of other changes.

This spells an even brighter future for “GTA Online” since the player’s fix is technically experimental and officially unsupported. Rockstar should now be able to officially fix the game’s agonizing loading times and provide further support for it down the road.

However, it should be noted that different systems may experience different results. Mileage may vary depending on each computer build, but the load times should still see a drastic reduction. Computers with decent SSDs may get the most noticeable change, but even low-end PCs that can run “GTA V” will still experience a nice boost.

Discovering the cause of the extreme loading times, Rockstar awarded t0st with $10,000 in accordance with their Bug Bounty program, which is typically meant for hunting down cracks in “GTA Online’s” player privacy security protocols. The $10,000 reward was an exception, Rockstar tells IGN, as t0st was able to fix a problem that has plagued the game for years,

Rockstar has not made any announcements as to when this update will roll out, but players can expect to load into their games faster once the patch goes live.
